Great Gatsby wedding in Norway
When I first spoke with Lizelle & Magnus, they had a dream of a Great Gatsby themed wedding with lots of black&gold & theyr just wanted to have the best time with friends & family. Both of them are from New York, but since Magnus is Norwegian, they chose to have the wedding in his family home in Røyken.
These long long weddings usually start with me scouting the premises, checking in with my couple, and doing the detail shots of all the things people will be using on theyr wedding day. It also helps them to get used to me being around and get comfortable with cameras pointing at them.
It was a big old family home filled with pictures & trinkets from way back in time. Each of them had theyr own wing & I kept on running back and forth capturing every step of them getting ready.
Book your photographer
A setup where there is no driving around is exactly what I would recommend to every couple. Choose one location, split up the rooms, and then you get the most out of your day, and the most out of your wedding photographer.
They chose to have the ceremony at Røyken Kirke. The church is almost 800 years and sadly the exterior was under construction, which meant that it was dark. But we wedding photographers & especially in Norway have to be prepared for that. My cameras & lenses are both with this kind of lighting conditions in mind.
It’s not a Great Gatsby wedding without big surprises, like this a Ferrari 330 GTC from the 1960s. I mean have you seen a more gorgeous vintage vehicle?! And in such an amazing color.
After the ceremony, we headed back home. This is usually where the fun can begin. & What better way to open a party than a champagne tower? This is where I slip more into the crowd & start caching all the fun expressions and the mood of the party.
A great Gatsby wedding is impossible without a grand band – say hello to Knights Club – only the most amazing live band ever that flew in from Switzerland.
Evening came, and it was time for everyone to head to dinner. The planner Amanda & her talented colleagues have arranged this gorgeous set up just in the garden. I have seen tents from Lavvo Utleie before, but this was extra gorgeous, especially in the evening.
And my time with them was over. It was a spectacular long wedding day with just amazing people from all over the world.
